Introducing Kemal Ahmed Hussein:
Kemal is a consultant with a passion for access to essential quality medicines, medical supplies and contraceptives worldwide because the majority especially those in sub – Saharan Africa countries still lack regular access to affordable quality health care commodities.
Kemal is currently a senior consultant in i+ Solutions/ARV Access for Africa (AA4A), South Africa to support individuals, programs or institutions to develop their individual or programmatic and institutional abilities that would help them achieve their goal in an efficient and effective way.
He is a Senior Pharmacist (BPharm; MSc) by profession with additional postgraduate certificate (Pg Cert) training in Effective Drug Management and Rational Drug Use (EDM/RDU) from Aberdeen, Scotland, UK. Kemal has worked for 18 years at different levels in Ethiopia - as lecturer at Government Universities (Jimma and Addis Ababa), and Unity University, a private higher education institution. He also worked for the Supply Chain Management System (SCMS) for 19 months and Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) for 6.5 years. Kemal’s major activities in SCMS were managing quantification and procurement of HIV/AIDS commodities in general. Further, Kemal has experience in private import and wholesale of essential medicines at Afro German Chemicals EST PLC, Ethiopia (April 2006 to Sep.2007) with understanding about the import, customs and regulatory related aspects.
Kemal’s international working experience include South Africa, Mali, Sudan, Botswana and Ethiopia on supply chain seminar, inspection of medical stores and training for supply and warehouse operations management on ARVs, Antimalarials and Anti – TB drugs.
