Main responsibilities:

The Category Manager (CM) is responsible for designing and executing i+solutions’ strategy for the sourcing and procurement of health products. The CM will be responsible for developing a deep understanding of the market dynamics for a given product category and then developing – in collaboration with other Category Managers – the most appropriate strategy to maximize value in terms of cost savings/avoidance, demand management, risk reduction, supplier performance, and contract management. To do so, the CM will have experience with strategic sourcing best practices.
The CM is an energetic, flexible team player capable of forming strong relationships throughout the entire organization, in addition to successfully leveraging resources, processes and tools to achieve desired outcomes.

Specific Responsibilities:

Sourcing and Procurement:

  • Research of a given product portfolio via desk research or via available networks.
  • Understanding market dynamics, i.e. key demand and supply factors.
  • Planning and implementing long-term development strategies for product categories.
  • Evaluating bids and managing awards.
  • Establish and negotiate Long Term Agreements with suppliers.
  • Negotiating pricing and other terms and developing appropriate pricing strategies.
  • Pre-qualifying eligible suppliers and participating in supplier audits.
  • Building and maintaining supplier relationships
  • Monitoring and improving supply performance, i.e. via KPIs and business reviews.
  • Analyzing spend analysis and seeking increased value for money.
  • Managing internal and external stakeholder communication.

Transaction Management

  • Evaluation of client needs in collaboration with Supply Chain Services.
  • Developing reference pricing.
  • Allocating of suppliers to transactions (requisitions and sales orders).
  • Maintaining allocation overviews and tracking available supplier capacity.
  • Assist with requisition/sales order/purchase order management when required.

Competencies

  • Strong negotiation skills at a senior level with international suppliers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with a strong sense of customer service
  • Solution-oriented with a high sense of quality, attention to detail, accuracy, efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Approximately 5 years of work experience in Procurement and Supply Chain Management.
  • Educational level at least HBO (3rd level education), or a dedicated procurement education (i.e. NEVI 1).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities and work in a team with diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Self-driven with a high sense of quality, accuracy, efficiency and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Fluency in oral and written English is a must.
  • Excellent communicative and social skills.
  • Experience with ERP or procurement/supply chain management software
  • Strong computer skills, including sound knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Experience with donor funded projects is considered an advantage.
  • Analytical capacity and insight into business processes, both in the industry and in the business policy arena.
