The role:

The Category Manager for oxygen equipment is responsible for implementing i+solutions’ strategy for the procurement and supply of oxygen equipment, Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) plants, oxygen consumables etc. You will be responsible for leading sourcing initiatives with business partners across the world. As a link between clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders, the Category Manager is accountable for understanding key business drivers and ensuring that operational requirements are fulfilled. You have experience in cross-functional collaboration and use of strategic sourcing best practices to maximize value in terms total cost of ownership, cost savings/avoidance, demand management, risk reduction, supplier performance, and contract management.

The Category Manager conducts internal and external spend and market analyses, identifies opportunities, leads sourcing activities, participates in supplier audits, negotiates and manages contracts and key supplier relationships. The candidate is an energetic, flexible team player capable of forming strong relationships throughout the entire organization, in addition to successfully leveraging resources, processes and tools to achieve desired outcomes.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Researching and analysing data and market intelligence
  • Analysing and understanding the wishes of our clients Planning and implementing long-term development strategies for oxygen equipment, PSA plants, consumables etc.
  • Strategic sourcing of oxygen equipment, PSA plants, consumables and other health commodities
  • Aligning the product category strategy with other strategies notably client strategies
  • Building and maintaining long-term relationships with suppliers
  • Establishing and managing Long Term Agreements (LTAs) with suppliers
  • Negotiating pricing and other terms
  • Monitoring and improving supply performance
  • Developing appropriate pricing strategies
  • Managing internal and external stakeholder communication
  • Evaluating client requirements and eligible sources
  • Evaluating bids and managing awards

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience as category manager or procurement specialist in medical equipment, diagnostics etc.
  • Educational level at least HBO (3rd level education), or a dedicated procurement education (i.e. NEVI 1). Background in biomedical sciences is an asset
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities and work in a team with diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Self-driven with a high sense of quality, accuracy, efficiency and meeting tight deadlines
  • Fluency in oral and written English is a must.
  • Excellent communication and social skills
  • Experience with ERP or procurement/supply chain management software
  • Strong computer skills, including sound knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and Power point
  • Experience with donor funded projects is considered an advantage
  • Analytical capacity and insight into business processes, both in the industry and in the business policy arena
